They were the best of times

Well Jules got her going away do and possibly some alcohol poisoning to go along with it. Bills bar opened early so we started there and headed to the lovely Romanzas at seven, we were happy with the food, the wine and all the cocktails. Very Happy. We then headed to Howl on the Moon where Billóg proceeded to howl literally at the moon for the night. The paparazzi were there, Jules and Jill, and the drink flowed like a newly burst dam. Some great moves were thrown on the dancefloor, then Drummer collected us and dropped us home at half two, Result. I even closed my front door. Result for Suzie.

Saturday went down to Seoirses gaf with Jimbob for a jaffacake fest. Then back into town for Aud's Garretts fortieth. Twas in the upstairs of O'Briens on Leeson street, great size venue. I was suddenly brought back to my early teens when I saw that they sold McCrystal's snuff. I'll have one of them please. It's now only half full. Try it.

Sunday was my first time in a sheebeen. Up the hills near the Coalmine, behind electric gates. A donkey and a great Dane on gaurd to keep the cops out. Great. A drink I think, says I. While I'm at it, a bit of pool and Jenga....and a bit of babysitting but that's the norm wihen there's a buggy brigade.

Its countdown to Punchestown- well its on now- but countodwn to Friday.

Now, the end is near.....

It’s curtains

Not for me but “me Julie” in work. She’s finishing up in the cut throat industry of agency PR and going into the organised and desirable world of in-house PR. She will be taken under Radge’s wings in Setanta and all the other madmen, too many madmen to mention. Tonight is her second and official going away do, a few sherries might be had.

What can I say Jules? You are mega. This is the woman who I have yet to dance with when “Mr Jones” comes on, she’s runs off to a corner to call her friends to blare the song down the phone to them, nine o’clock at night or two in the morning. The same happens for “Losing my religion”.

She doesn’t like people in general. Great line.

Coined the phrase Shiny Girls…i.e. the type of girls who hang out in Café en Seine by choice.

Has the nicest male companion, we love the Drummer.

Always smiling.

She’s in her own world especially when she’s drunk. We are definitely glad to be part of it.

Friday - Siobhs house party for her bday, good times, topic of the night was the often touched upon subject of what one would do in the event of the world ending tomorrow; logistics people, logistics.
Saturday - Poitin followed by the lovely Glendalough, the scratcher needed me after that.
Sunday - Boozing at breakfast- yer only man, dont think my mum has much of a thresh hold for the oul Cava, followed by a twenty hour nap and then the Poitin again. Love the holidays in the Poitin.

Lyrics and the like

So One by U2 won the best lyric of all time on a VH1 poll........

They have better lyrics but I do think it is one of their top tunes. All I want is you, is my favourite U2 tune, its up there in the top two slow songs of all time, not neccesarily for the lyrics but for the guitar rift about three quarters the way through. One, as a slow number has a much higher calibre then the often hyped-thanks to that episode of Friends- With or Without you.
Examples of U2 songs with great lyrics:

Whose gonna ride your wild horses
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Kite
Walk On
Beautiful Day
Pride

I think polls like these depend purely on timing, if U2 hadn't have collaborated with Mary J Blige to re-release One I don't think it would be on the top of peoples tongues.

One song I highly rate if you want to be inspired to be good at what you do, or just to do a little better is the Kiddy fiddler himself's song, R Kelly's "World's greatest", puts you in a great mood everytime.......I'm that little ray of hope........

Don't get me started on Coldplay being number 5 in the top lyrics poll with the ever vague "Yellow".......

Plan Stan

So its coming up to the biggest session of the year - Good Friday. Sorry Mum and Dad but it is. As they say in Anchorman, It's science. Started the festivities last night by going out to Tiger Becs and managed to drink not too much but got very drunk. I highly recommend the joint. Had some head on me this morning going to work. Professional? I think so. Tonight brings me to my gaf with Flynch, Jules and maybe Siobhs for a few pre session drinks before Decos gaf/birthday party. Siobhs is coming along with the intention of stealing Decs thunder cos her birthday is the same day, so a late night exchange of words over whose birthday deserves more airtime will no doubt ensue.

Tomorrow night Siobhs, a fellow pagan, is having a house party to celebrate her bday. Happy Birthday girlie! The plan there is to get more maggoty then the night before and stumble home when the birds come out. Must remember to shut my front door both nights, that's alot of pressure......

Saturday, not sure yet what I'm at.

Sunday will start off with making scones and drinking bucks fizz with Em in the gaf, feel free to join us. Then its Marjories Dawes worst nightmare when we scoff through our Easter eggs like an ethiopian after an airdrop. Then more drink and possibly a Will and Grace Marathon in the background and then if we can fit it in, dinner.

Monday, hopefully wake up, recover and go to Razorlight- thank you Suz for the tickets.

Oh and big news, Jules is flying the coop. She's moving on to Setanta. There will be tears at her going away doat the karaoke bar- tears of pain when they hear me and Flynch sing "You're so vain" like a pair of drowning cats. Take care of me Julie Radge, kid gloves.

P.S. was in Scotland last weekend, that shall rear its head in another blog.

Every cloud has a silver lining?

Not every cloud. Always look on the bright side of life........ There isn't one. You can't see the wood for the trees.........That's because there is no wood. Cliches look good on paper but the truth is, in real situations they just don't cut it. Clichés don't help you through things, they are just words, futile words. Support from people, gestures from friends and family, that's what gets you through.
